Our History
Established in 1984 by a team of educators, administrators and dedicated community members, STC was among the first Teacher Centers in New York State. We have evolved and adapted with innumerable changes and innovations in education and technology over the years. The center now hosts a large lending library, current professional periodicals, SEPTA library, and updated technology, such as Mac and PC laptops for loan and wireless internet in our conference room.
Each of the more than 120 Teacher Centers in NYS represents a grass-roots organization developed and operated locally by teachers. Together, the Centers form a powerful network dedicated to delivering customized services to educators.
Despite total elimination of State funding in the 2010-2011 school year and restoration of half of our funding in the 2011-2012 school year, STC remains dedicated to continuing high-quality service to our educators. We are grateful for the support of our teachers, teacher aides, administrators, building liaisons, policy board and community organizations who have made it possible for us to remain true to …
